Sweep and Balance Forward as well as Return In todays HFC Architecture, sweep is the most underrated process in the upgrade of any CATV Network. In fact, some systems will attempt to do without it entirely. Others will only employ sweep on a limited basis in order to activate the upstream portion of the network. Performed properly, a thorough system sweep is the most valuable phase of any upgrade. A well-documented sweep process will serve as a baseline to measure performance during the entire life of your network. In addition, Upgrade Management Personnel will not find a more effective tool to measure contractor performance. The average Rebuild Manager signs more than $50,000 in invoices every week. The Rebuild Department, typically understaffed, spends most of the week attempting to stay ahead of the construction and splicing contractor. GoDirect Telecom, Inc. will assess the quality and accuracy of the splicing, while testing cable and equipment performance. Everything from Head End signal quality and light levels; to cable performance, splicing and signal quality at the last tap will be verified, documented and reported to your office on a weekly basis. GoDirect will work directly with your splicing contractor to ensure that any mistakes are corrected in a timely manner. The sweep is not complete until your network is 100% built to the map and performing according to your design criteria. Sweep documentation can then be employed by system management to track system performance and the quality of ongoing maintenance for the life of the network.
